When I'm Alone 11.4.2013

Alone in the Room With You

I reached through the dim
lamplight to touch you,
soundlessly, with the tips of my fingers—
you didn't turn around,
must have felt it.

I thought, this is it:
to be a ghost.

When I'm alone: 11.2.2013

When I'm alone...

...I try to not be alone.

...I think of The Mayor from Spike Lee's movie who said, "do the right thing."

Suppressing the urges of the darkness, and motivating towards creativity.

When I'm alone I'm not as productive as I want to be.

When I'm alone, I think instead of do.

When I'm alone I touch myself...
... and think of you.

When I'm alone I touch myself and think of others too.

When I'm alone, I wonder.

When I'm alone I wonder if it's me that's the odd one out.

When I'm alone I question my purpose.

When I'm alone I question my methods of achieving my goals.

When I'm alone I feel guilty for not doing more.

When I'm alone I question my motives.

When I'm alone, I wonder why I'm so alone...

When I'm alone I wonder why I feel like I'm the only one not in on the joke.

When I'm alone I feel that everyone knows the secret but me.

In a world full of caring and loving souls, I crave the understanding of why I feel like I'm so alone.
